I'm excited to announce that my solo show Agatha will be featured in this year's Slant Culture Theatre Festival at Walden Theatre!
I've been wanting to bring this show back since its feature in Cornish's solo showcase (Seattle) in 2011. Furthermore, I'd like to see more solo performance in the Louisville community. It’s something that inspires me and challenges me as an artist. I was so excited for Chris Anger’s show last year (Dead Astronauts) and felt elated walking out of it. I would really like to see more. The best way to support that mission is to contribute to it. If the Slant Culture Theatre Festival’s mission is to bring many ideas together and grow as an artistic community, I think it’s the perfect place to produce the Louisville premiere for this piece.
The show features two high school girls - one, successful and popular, and the other, a failing outsider with a lisp (Agatha) - and their tribulations during the most awkward years of growing up. There is something in this piece that I think everyone can relate to, like reckoning with big ideas and love and failures for the first time.
